For my oldest son's birthday we celebrated by having a Family Cupcake War. Each person who participated (2 of them were kids) brought 12 cupcakes and an item or picture that was their inspiration.

Lemon and Chocolate
Filled Cupcakes
Halloween Spider Cupcakes
baked in the cones
Peace Cupcakes
Rice Krispies Treat Cupcakes
Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes
baked inside a mini pumpkin, which is all edible
Everyone tasted a small bite of each cupcake and voted for their favorite. There were many categories including most colorful and best tasting. Each participant received an award and got to pick from a basket filled with bottles of sprinkles and cute cupcake liners. The winners received an award for that category and a box of cake mix.
At the end of the night every family took home a plate full of delicious cupcakes.
