Georgetown Cupcake

I could not resist a trip to Georgetown Cupcake in
Washington DC.
It was just about a 30 minute trip from where I was staying.

My future daughter in law agreed to take me but
didn't inform me until we got there that she wouldn't
be able to try any of the cupcakes because of her nut allergy.

Here was the cupcakes that they sold for the day that we went.
Everyday they have different cupcakes.

Pretty showcases.

Hard to make any choices.

Cute bag.

My future daughter in law and me.

Signature box.

I tried to get a variety that my boys and I could try.
I really enjoyed the gluten free one, it was the only
one with a ganache filling.

Thank you to my future daughter in law for taking me there.
Sad that you were not able to try any.

Oreo Milkshake Cupcake

Taking these cupcakes to my daughter for her birthday.
Open to see why its called Oreo Milkshake Cupcake.

Oreo baked on the bottom.  I saw a cookie and creme cupcake and
a milkshake cupcake and combined the too.
You will need 25 oreos.

Cupcake:
1 box white cake mix
1 stick butter melted and cooled (about 3-5 minutes)
1 c. water
3 eggs
Mix all ingredients on low for 1 minute.  And then  on high speed for one minute.
Place oreo in the bottom of each liner and fill to 2/3 full.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Filling:
2-7 oz. jars of marshmellow creme
1 stick of butter softened
1/4 tsp. vanilla
4 Tbsp. heavy cream
1 and  1/2 c. powdered sugar.
Mix together everything except powdered sugar on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add sugar and mix on high for 1 minute.  I finely crushed 1 oreo to mix with the filling.
I used a piping bag with a large opened metal tip to inject the filling in each cupcake.

I cheated a bit on the frosting because
I wanted to make sure the frosting stayed set for the long drive.

Topping:
4 cans of Betty Crocker frosting.
I used the same metal tip and piped on the frosting.
Add sprinkles and a red sixlet candy.
I bought the very thin straws at the 99 cent store and cut them to size.

This recipe made 24 cupcakes.

Angry Birds

I asked my future daughter-in-law to pull over as we were leaving Target
so I could take a picture of these birds acrross this pond.

Notice the annoying angry birds.
Virginia angry birds I might add!

And as I walked over to the side of the pond
these other birds followed me.

It was a lighty breezy day.
They were hovering over me.  And all I could say
was you better not poop on me.

After a little cropping I got the shot I wanted.

Homemade Makeup Remover

I have many "How to Make" ideas that I want to try.
Today, I decided to make some
Homemade Makeup Remover.
1 cup water
1 1/2 Tbsp. Johnson's baby shampoo (No Tears)
1/8 tsp. Olive Oil
Put all of the ingredients in a bottle or jar.
Stir or shake gently.

I dipped a cotton round in the solution and wiped my face with it.
It took off my Clinique makeup and eyeliner.

I decided that when I travel I will dip some cotton rounds
and put them in a baggie and take them with me.

Note:  I used lavender baby shampoo just because I like the smell.

Cookies and Cream Rice Krispie Treats

Time once again for a tasty little treat.
3 Tbsp. Butter plus butter your dish
5 cups rice krispie cereal
10 pkg. mini marshmellows
16 small Oreos broken in pieces

Microwave butter and marshmellows 1 minute then stir
add another 30 seconds stir.  Add cereal and cookies.
Stir and put in a buttered dish and smash down.
Cool 30 minutes ( if you can wait that long)

I used a casserole dish so sides are rounded.

These gems will be gone in no time.
Enjoy

DC Spy Museum

Just recently got back from a trip to Virginia to see my oldest son.
Took along my youngest son.
We spent a week of sightseeing in
Washington DC and Virgina.

International Spy Museum.  We took a tour of the museum
and went on a spy mission where you and other try to solve a case.
It was very fun.

I thought this spy gnome was cute.

Spy Rug.

Here are some spies that tagged along with me.
Soon to be daughter in law, oldest and youngest sons.
I recommend going there if you are in the area!!

Juicing it up for the new year!

I do enjoy juicing.
Here is one of my favorite recipes.

2 handfuls of baby spinach
1 cucumber
1 orange
1 small package of blackberries
1 coin size piece of ginger
Using my Breville juicer.
I start with the spinach and use the cucumber to push it all through.
Then the ginger and then the fruit.

Yummy!
I do skim off the foam.
Not fond of that.

Enjoy!!
